Job Description

The Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health is presently conducting a search for a full-time Associate Clinical Director with the rank of associate professor.

The Associate Clinical Director will have clinical responsibility for AEGD patient care, clinical teaching and mentoring of AEGD residents to assure attainment of postdoctoral clinical competency. Daily Clinical operations of ACC. 

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and manage AEGD faculty in the program as to educational goals, experiences, expected resident progress and competencies.
  • Manage residents as they develop and work through patient treatment plans, achieve educational goals and attain competency
  • Assist with development and maintenance of accreditation.
  • Attend/conduct daily/weekly meetings with resident, students, faculty, and staff to review issues/plans/events/achievement
  • Work with staff and faculty to train adjunct faculty to achieve clinical calibration
  • Complete administrative reports as needed. 
  • Track resident clinical progress and calibration with Clinical Director AEGD on deficiencies on a periodic basis
  • Provide didactic education to residents and staff
  • Coordinate activities and calibration of adjunct faculty
  • Work with clinical staff to insure that residents have proper assistance when necessary
  • Review and approve  along with adjunct faculty, all treatment plans that are presented to patients
  • Screen new patients referred from ASDOH for appropriateness for patient treatment  in ACC Clinic
  • Coordinate patient treatment with dental specialty faculty as necessary
  • Review and approve clinical progress notes
  • In coordination with clinical staff oversee the ordering and inventory of instruments, materials and supplies used in the clinic
  • Provide direction and assistance to clinical staff for efficient operations of clinic
  • Advise and mentor the residents and offer assistance to them to maximize their educational experience
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring clinic staff as well as evaluate job performance
  • Working with Associate Administrative Director to monitor resident progress toward completion of requirements for program completion.
  • Participate in new resident interviews and selection
  • Perform dental procedures on patients as needed (i.e. teaching case)
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements

DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited dental school. Arizona Dental License required with a minimum of 5 years experience in dental teaching environment and in private practice or other facility where advanced general dentistry techniques were performed.
