Job Description

The Curriculum Coordinator will ensures that the SOMA curriculum for Year II courses achieves and/or exceeds goals and expectations by working collaboratively with staff and faculty, coordinating, and facilitating timely delivery of curriculum. Will manages, monitors, and enforces deadlines and serves as liaison for Course Directors, faculty, and students. Will maintain the Year II Curriculum Database.

Responsibilities: 

  • Organize and manage all didactic course material, ensuring timely delivery to students on Blackboard Learning Management System
  • Organize, manage, and analyze all practice assessments
  • Implement and monitor multiple software packages which assess student performance; collect data, analyze, and notify course directors of student profiles
  • Communicate daily with OMS II medical students to guarantee effective delivery of didactic course material
  • Retrieve, analyze, and respond to student requests for absences
  • Assist Curricular Dean, Course Directors, and administrative staff in development of policies and procedures for all course –related activities, including due dates, scheduling, and execution of exams
  • Serves as liaison and first point of contact for 2nd Year medical students, Deans, Course Directors, and faculty, trouble-shooting questions and concerns, sharing information, and directing toward resolution
  • Active committee member of the SOMA Curriculum Committee
  • Manages grade books and submission of grades for OMS II didactic courses
  • Manage design and organization of didactic courses on Blackboard Learning Management System; this involves programming features within Blackboard and interfacing with multiple other software packages
  • Proctors exams as needed
  • Provides coverage for absent SOMA administrative support staff
  • Assists in interviewing and training SOMA administrative support staff
  • Creates and maintains Year II academic calendars and book lists
  • Assist faculty with research, bibliographies, references, and manuscript preparation
  • Maintains Kaplan data for tracking student performance and milestone markers
  • Leads monthly at-risk tracking committee for Years 1-IV
  • Scheduler, coordinator, and recorder for Student Performance Committee (SPC), drafting and disseminating SPC letters
  • Maintains at-risk and SPC student status spreadsheet

Skills / Requirements

Four year college degree preferably in Education with a minimum of two years work experience in an academic environment. Proficient computer knowledge, ability to work with various types of software and database combinations. Ability to understand, assess, and use professional judgment. Ability to set priorities, project deadlines, and meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously, ensuring accurate output. Demonstrate initiative in being proactive, anticipating needs, and completing tasks accurately. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact on a professional level with administration, faculty, students, and staff. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changed priorities and effectively handle frequent interruptions. Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently. Effective use of diplomacy, tact, and judgment.
