Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS) is one of several schools of ATSU which includes the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (founded in 1892), College of Graduate Health Studies, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Established in 1995, ASHS is located in the city of Mesa within the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Thirty-seven full-time faculty teach within residential and distance education programs in five health care disciplines. Master of Science degrees are offered in athletic training, occupational therapy, and physician assistant studies. Professional doctorates are offered in audiology and physical therapy. The individuals selected for these position will be 3 of 4 full-time ASHS anatomy faculty members to deliver lectures and cadaveric and virtual labs in human anatomy to all of the ASHS health professions students. The candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and a strong commitment to student learning and success.

Position: We are seeking a full-time 12 month, tenure track Assistant / Associate Professor of Anatomy.

Professional Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in anatomy or closely related area is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience teaching human anatomy to professional healthcare students is preferred, as is previous experience in dissection of human cadavers.
  3. Certification / licensure and clinical experience in a health profession (AT, AuD, OT, PA, PT) is desired, but not required.
  4. Advanced knowledge and skills in using various educational technologies for course delivery.
  5. Previous experience and interest in teaching anatomy using computer assisted / virtual software is desired.

Personal Characteristics or Traits:
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of students and faculty.  Candidate should have a high aptitude and interest in student learning and student success.  He/she needs patience and ability to work well with students who have varied degrees of experience and interest in learning human anatomy.  He/she must be able to work independently, exercise good judgment, solve problems, and organize work.

Human anatomy didactic and cadaveric and virtual laboratory education of students within all ASHS programs.  Assist as needed in medical and dental school anatomy labs. Dissection of embalmed willed bodies to develop prosections for student learning. Engage in research/scholarship in anatomy and/or related area in university, community, and professional service appropriate.  Assist in general duties involved in all cadaveric and virtual anatomy laboratory use.

Rank and Salary:  Commensurate with rank and experience.
