Job Description

A.T. Still University of Health Sciences seeks a vice president of information technology on the Kirksville, MO campus. The vice president of information technology assists and advises the President’s Cabinet and other administrators on all matters pertaining to information technology (IT); selects and implements suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and optimize strategic benefits; and assesses IT systems and makes recommendation in investments and implementation of future technology. S/he provides oversight to the management of the University’s IT services, ensures strategic alignment of IT with the University’s mission, college/school purposes, and strategic plan; develops budget with input from each department; and promotes integrity and responsibility among and ensures all University personnel adhere to regulations and policies pertaining to IT.

5-10 years experience in leading, mentoring, motivating, and managing highly technical professionals, establishing relationships and managing partnerships with technology vendors, and applying technology to solve business problems.
Skills requirements: leadership skills and abilities; ability to work with cross-functional teams and foster teamwork; ability and willingness to delegate effectively and hold direct reports accountable; emotional maturity—ability to make good, consistent, and fair decisions (based on facts and data) with transparency; exceptional listening skills; ability to articulate technical issues at a business level; ability to analyze industry and anticipate new developments; ability to think both strategically and tactically; ability to coordinate resources and educational needs of various University departments; ability to represent the state of technology in a manner understandable by a wide audience with varying capabilities.
