Job Description

A.T. Still University's College of Graduate Health Studies is excited to announce the opening of an Instructional Designer on it's Kirksville, MO campus. The Instructional Designer will assist in the design and preparation of teaching materials for online delivery and work with the Associate Dean of Academics and Assessment to aid in the development and implementation/delivery of curriculum and training programs for faculty and staff. 

Major job duties include:

  • Apply appropriate learning theories, instructional theories, and media applications to instructional scenarios
  • Interact with faculty and staff to provide training, documentation, and support for instructional technology and applications that complement and enhance instruction
  • Design, build, and revise online courses in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Create help documents, tutorials, and other content to assist faculty, staff, and students
  • Support the use of an online course evaluation system for continuous quality improvement of courses and programs
  • Ensure the accessibility of all online courses and materials
  • Provide technical and pedagogical advice and expertise in the evaluation, purchase, upgrading, and maintenance of software resources for teaching and learning


  • College plus postgraduate studies in Education or comparable field
  • 1 to 2 years experience
  • Experience in the design and development of technology-based instructional materials and courses in higher education
  • Experience applying instructional design methodology and principles to the design, delivery, and evaluation of distance learning courses
  • Evidence of experience in course management software (Blackboard and/or Canvas preferred)
  • Experience with common software application packages used in higher education teaching, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching techniques, curriculum development, and instructional design
  • Exceptional presentation, interpersonal, problem-solving, customer service, listening, and writing skills
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and organized
